In the 1981-82 season, Wayne Gretzky, at just 21 years old and in only his third year in the NHL, became the first and only player ever to amass 200 points in a single season. The milestone was achieved during a game against the Calgary Flames when Gretzky assisted Pat Hughes in the first period for his 200th point. In acknowledgment of this feat, the Calgary crowd honored him with a standing ovation.
