Claude Giroux collected two goals, one assist and received “First Star” honors on April 10, 2023, in a 3-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes – recording his 1,000th career point along the way. The milestone play begins with Ottawa Senators teammate Brady Tkachuk retrieving the puck along the boards before passing it back to Giroux who was trailing the play. Angling toward the net, Giroux finds a streaking Tim Stützle on his left and feeds the pass to him for the assist. Instead of celebrating his goal, Stützle rushes to the net to pick up the puck for Giroux’s accomplishment while Tkachuk signals the rest of the bench to come onto the ice. After 15 seasons spent mostly with the Philadelphia Flyers, Giroux joined the Ottawa Senators ahead of the 2022-23 campaign and proceeded to set a career high with 35 goals.
