In his final season with the Detroit Red Wings, 22-season team captain Steve Yzerman delivered a memorable moment at Joe Louis Arena on March 31, 2006. Capitalizing on a play he disrupted at the blue line that led to a Chicago turnover, Yzerman found himself in the slot and hammered home a pass for his 691st career goal. This goal moved him past Mario Lemieux on the all-time goal-scoring list, placing him 8th at the time. Adding to an already legendary career, Yzerman’s accolades include three Stanley Cup championships, a Conn Smythe Trophy, a Frank J. Selke Trophy, and induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
