Paul Coffey #421
In the decisive Game 5 of the 1985 Stanley Cup Final against Philadelphia, defenseman Paul Coffey played a pivotal role in the clinching victory, contributing two goals and one assist. His first goal of the game resulted from a well-executed passing sequence. Wayne Gretzky spearheaded the rush up the ice and upon reaching the offensive blueline, he backhanded a nifty pass to Coffey, who had joined the rush. Coffey concluded the play with a shot that eluded Bob Froese, securing Edmonton’s third goal of the game. Coffey's performance in the 1985 Stanley Cup Playoffs was extraordinary, ranking second in playoff points among all players as a defenseman. Additionally, he established records for the most goals (12), assists (25), and points (37) in a single playoff year by a defenseman.
